The more useful device in this moment....Notebook!

Today, I want to write about my favourite piece of technology: the notebook.

Seriously, I say that is my favorite device because I can use this tool all day and for anything I need. It is difficult for me to say this, considering my problems with technology in general. I do not use a lot of tools, software or programs such as innovations in my life. But, hey, I have declared recently that notebook is actually a fundamental part of my work and studies, so I must recognize it as a innovation device in my daily activities.
For any reason I said that I love the notebook or other technological device, but I can not deny that they are very useful.  Since I have my notebook I could do many things that previously could not. Now I can connect to internet outside my house, do my work and read interesting books and papers anywhere in the city. For example, in this moment I am writing in my notebook while I´m waiting to a friend in my faculty. Certainly, this device is specially useful to university students. It allows a more flexible life and we can organize better the times.
I think a technological device such as notebook should be used appropriately, and without transforming the people dependent on these tools.

La Vita é Bella: my favourite movie

In this opportunity I have to be injust because I have to choose one film between a lot of movies that like me. However, is not the first time I am faced with a difficult decision.
Really, I like too much Forest Gump or ‘Cidade de Deus’, but if I have to choose I prefer ‘La Vita é Bella’. Really, I don´t understand enough the reason of this. However, I think this film liked me because impacted too much when I watched it, at 10 years old approximately. Also, I saw this movie other times.
In this film I could see a dramatic situation, because the movie is set in World War II. In shortly, an Italian family is deported to a concentration camp because they are Jews. Under these conditions, Guido (the main character) tries to save his family and especially his son Joshua. Guido invents a game to Joshua so that he can take care and be saved without fear. Joshua is entertained with the game and gets out alive from the concentration camp, with his mother Dora. However, the end is not so happy: Guido is killed by the Nazi guards while trying to escape.
In any case, the end of the movie left very good lessons for living happier in difficult times.
It is my favourite movie!

a fantastic trip to Argentina

In this opportunity I will talk about a trip, a fantastic trip, to Argentina.
Really, it´s no a far place, but for me this travel was very intensive and full of experiences.
Well, my trip to Argentina began in Valdivia -my natal city and the starting point of the travel- in January of this year.
So, it was summer and my girlfirend wanted to cross the Andes Mountains. For this, I proposed to her that we go to San Martín de los Andes crossing
Hua-Hum international pass. She accepted my idea and we went to Valdivia Neltume. In this place, near to Andes Mountain, we were two days because it was very interesting.
Neltume have a lot of histories asociated to resistance to military dictatorship in Chile. Well, after our visit to Neltume, we continue the travel to Pirehueico Port.
To reach this place we had to cross the Pirehueico Lake in a ship. After, being in Pirehueico Port, we had to walk to the international customs. This customs is called Hua-hum and it´s near to 'San Martín de los Andes' -Argentina-. We took a bus to come to this city. From here we go to the 'siete lagos' route to arrive in 'Junin de los Andes'. In this place we visited the Huechulafken lake, where actually there are many Mapuche communities yet.
Unfortunately, the trip finished after our visit to this lake, because mi girlfriend had to come back to a familiar reunion. And me...I had to return with her.

Elisée Reclus

Always, I have been interested for relationships between my career, Geography, and my ideological beliefs. For that, in this case I have chosen one of the most important characters in the history of the geography: Elisee Reclus, an anarchist geographer.

Elisee Reclus was born in Sainte Foy la Grande (France) in 1830, and he died in Thourout (Belgium) in 1905. Among his most famous phrases, including geographical considerations, we can remember some of these: "Sooner or later the heroic age of exploration of the mountains will end, as the exploration of the plain, and the memory of famous climbers will become legend (100)".

Reclus was admired by many important 19th century thinkers. He advocated nature conservation and opposed meat-eating and cruelty to animals. As a result, his ideas are seen by some historians as anticipating the modern social ecology and animal rights movements.

Now, in 21th century, many geographers are rescuing the ideas of Reclus, because he proposes an Universal Geography, joining the phisical and human aspects. It´s especially important in this moment, just when our discipline (geography) needs a holistic vision. Also, we must recognize that anarchism is very important as epistemologic way, because offer a construction of knowledge that defy the hegemonical positions. The geography, from anarchism, can be a discipline that cooperates with critical knowledge about the production of space, the transformation of landscapes, and the power relationships in territories.
